Balboa’s disclaimer for free entrance - "Not included: Admission for veterans and retirees, unmarried partners, parents with a child currently serving on active duty, or for those who have lost a child on active duty." Really? Really Balboa Park? You couldn’t have said that more tactfully? (My daughter Angela posted this-- from Balboa Park in San Diego. I thought it was worth sharing, on 4th of July weekend.)
Happy Passover everybody!
Arthur C. Clarke's 3 laws: Definition of Magic 1.When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is probably wrong. 2.The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. 3.Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
It’s a disgrace and the fact that this mess continues AFTER HEALTHCARE reform (what a joke) is a big part of the reason the democrats whom I fully supported are going to have their clocks cleaned in November. How dare they waste 2 years to produce such costly, complicated, confusing, weak, delayed and useless legislation. I for one needed and was counting on some real reforms that included at the very least an option to buy into the Federal Health programs or medicare. What they gave me is useless and a slap in the face of informed voters, not just teabaggers. Anonymous-Comment from a healthcare website
"The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed" - Adolf Hitler (borrowed this from grumpyoldsod.com)
"We shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want" - Lao Tzu
Happy Rosh Hashanah to all :)

Pantheism is the view that God is wholly immanent. God IS the universe. The pantheist God is not at all personal, and is often little more than a “metaphor” for nature, or “the ground of being”, etc. Some famous pantheists include Einstein, Spinoza, Joseph Campbell, and the followers of many Eastern religions such as Buddhism and Taoism. Panentheism, while affirming with the pantheists that the universe is included in God, distinguish themselves from pantheists in their belief that God is also personal and transcendent (or more than) the universe. God for the panentheists is more than a metaphor for being or for nature, but a personal transcendent deity.
"Liberty is a great celestial Goddess, strong, beneficent, and austere, and she can never descend upon a nation by the shouting of crowds, nor by arguments of unbridled passion, nor by the hatred of class against class." Annie Besant
